☀️ Addressing Your Limiting Beliefs ☀️

A limiting belief is a false belief that you undoubtedly believe that is true for yourself. You might think that you’re not worthy of achieving what you desire or you think it’s out of reach because you feel undeserving of it. This kind of thinking will and is probably limiting you in someway! It’s actually a negative state that our minds are in which allows us to believe that we’re not good enough.

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

When I experience limiting beliefs, I call it the Devil’s voice inside my head. My limiting beliefs come from past experiences whether certain things didn’t work out or I’ve been told in the past that I can’t do something because I’m living in a fairy world and that I need to step back in to reality. Yes, really – someone said that to me once. You could be looking to others as to why it’s so easy for them to get what they want in life or question how did they achieve the life that they’re living. What we don’t know is that those people have probably addressed their limiting beliefs, speak very kindly to themselves and they know that words have power.

Take Muhammed Ali as an example, the greatest heavyweight of all time, who when growing up had people around him saying he’d amount to nothing and would not become a professional boxer, let alone champion. Muhammed Ali had such a strong motivational spirit and he believed that he could achieve and so he did. His unwavering faith in himself allowed him to become who he wanted to be. He didn’t allow any limiting belief to get in his way, whether that be from his own limiting beliefs or anyone who told him that he was not able to achieve,

A limiting belief can look like:

  1. You feel like you’re not worthy
  2. You don’t deserve love or you feel that no one will be attracted to you or love you.
  3. Blaming yourself
  4. Undeserving
  5. Doubting and not trusting yourself.
  6. Giving yourself a bad rap!
  7. You think you’re not a great person.

I would like to reassure you that the limiting beliefs that you have about yourself are not true as thoughts are not facts! The worrying part is when those thoughts become your reality. If you were to say to yourself everyday, “I’m a great person, I am kind, I am loving, I am blessed for all the blessings in my life” etc and you do this continuously everyday, multiple times a day, you would actually start naturally thinking positive and directly attacking your limiting beliefs. As your mindset changes, so does your outer world. Have you ever wondered why you feel bad about yourself? You’ve convinced yourself that these limiting beliefs are true for you and this is what causes these bad feelings. Your subconscious is wired to thinking negatively. Your thoughts create your feelings and thus they’re creating your life. Limiting beliefs will stop you from moving forward, allowing you to miss the opportunities that are presented to you everyday as the limiting belief takes over.

Throughout my life, I’ve had others comment on my ideas and put them down. They’ll tell me the negatives of the possible outcome, rather than say, “Go for it,” “The world is your oyster.” I don’t know why anyone would actually go out of their way to tell you why you can’t achieve something other than that they maybe in fact in a negative state themselves. As a result, I have had to train myself everytime another person plays down a good idea of mine, I have to acknowledge it and then let it go because it’s not my opinion, it’s theirs and that’s none of my business.

The next time your limiting beliefs ignite when you are working towards something, say to yourself “You know what? So what if someone else is already doing this, what’s to say I can’t do a better job at this?” Always remember, we are unique and every single person on this earth has something valuable to offer. It’s taken me a while to not allow others negative views and comments to affect me; you have to be headstrong for things like this otherwise their negative comments will ignite your limiting beliefs and that is creating your life.

“If we understood the power of our thoughts, we would guard them more closely.

If we understood the awesome power of our words, we would prefer silence to almost anything negative.

In our thoughts and words, we create our own weaknesses and our own strengths.

Our limitations and joys begin in our hearts. We can always replace negative with positive.”

Betty Eadie

Words are extremely powerful, including the thoughts that you tell yourself about YOU! WORDS HAVE CONSEQUENCES. Don’t second guess yourself and don’t allow ANYONE to second guess you. If you know someone is going to play your ideas down, don’t tell them a thing! When someone second guesses you or puts you down, they may not even know that they’re doing it but once you get to a stage in life where you’re aware of what’s happening, you’re one step ahead and you should continue pursue your dream anyway. Do you care what others think? Don’t!

“Your words have power.

Speak words that are kind, loving, positive, uplifting, encouraging, and life-giving.”

Putting Limiting Beliefs To Bed…How?

  • Replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Challenge your limiting beliefs and practice this any time a negative thought enters your mind. For example, replace “I can’t achieve that because I’m not qualified,” to “I am awesome, I can do anything I want.”
  • Practice positive affirmations regularly – positive affirmations gives your mood an instant lift. The more you say them the more you’re rewiring your brain to become more positive and before you know it, you’ll be in a positive state. Limiting beliefs? Hell nah!
  • Deep breaths – deep breathing has so many benefits and one of these benefits includes help calming your mind. As your mind calms, you’re less likely to have limiting beliefs.
  • Practice gratitude – this is another mood lifter and it helps you stay in the present, allowing you to appreciate all the blessings you have in life in this given moment. This will automatically put a lovely smile on your face too 😊

Start challenging your limiting beliefs, annihilate them with the powerful side of your mind. Do these as often as you can and you’ll start to see your confidence shine through just like the Risen Warrior that you are 🔥
